perl programming

The web is full of good tutorials, examples, documentation, etc. about perl. I decided to add this section only to mention a significant book that I recently bought.

The title of the book is CGI programming 101 from Jacqueline D. Hamilton, and it has the following characteristics:

  • it covers CGI programming
  • the book is short but complete, every facet of web based applications is covered
  • each topic is shortly but in-depth discussed
Brevity and clarity are rare to find, and this makes the book ideal for the occasional web programmer like me.

Please note that that the author claims that the book puts the novice up and running in a day, but I think that you have to know at least perl elementary notions before approaching this book.

An entire site is dedicated to this book, and the first chapters are freely downlodable. Try it. The book is cheap and well worth its price.
